Melissa and Dan held their wedding at a resort called Viamede , located a little outside of Peterborough. It was a beautiful location and meant that family members from either side did not have too much of a drive to celebrate with the happy couple.
For much of the weekend I kept my photo taking to my iPhone as I was there to experience and be apart of the event.
The ceremony was held are 4:30 in the afternoon which gave most people involved in the wedding time to test out some of the activities offered at the resort. Personally I stuck with Stand Up Paddle boarding and tested out some yoga moves I have been doing with SUPGirlz. The list of available water sports was quite long – people could do everything from water skiing ( the bride and the father of the bride got first dibs) , tubing , wake boarding , kayaking , canoeing and stand up paddle boarding; as well as just swimming and enjoying the view! The groomsmen and their plus ones had the cottages that where just of the ceremony space – to make sure they couldn’t miss it? With the ceremony taking place later in the day it left lots of time to take the wonderful view in!
Some of the fun little details along the way included handmade signs to find the ceremony space ( wonder how much lipstick was used!) , streamers to wave your congratulations with , sunglasses in the wedding colour of purple, and a fun order of ceremony !
While the groomsmen were finishing getting ready with their bow ties and suspenders I was invited to join the bridesmaids and the bride – and got a sneak peek at THE dress ! After a flurry of activity it was time to head on over to the ceremony space and enjoy the moment.
After cocktails and the wedding party had finished with the photographer it was time to head inside for dinner, speeches and dancing. When the wedding party came in it was neat to see the bridesmaids use their bouquets as the flower arraignments for the head table. During dinner another guest informed me that the meal was inspired by the couples Europe vacation they went on after graduating. The couple loves their hot drinks and brought that into the wedding favours by having a His and a Her tea for guests to enjoy from home.
Sam had the honor of giving the best man speech and did an amazing job! It was great to have stories like how these two guys became fast friends shared. One of the great things about the resort was it did not require much for decorating however the personal touches here and there made perfect sense. Behind the head table on the fireplace mantel they created their “living room” with frames full of photographs and items that surround their everyday live.
Afterwards we did a sparkler send off before the school bus that was chartered for Toronto guests headed back to the city and then danced the night away! The next day we had time to enjoy the resort before heading back to the city. For most that meant back to the water or in my case I ran around with my camera as well!
Then it was time for the guest to head home and the happy couple to head off on their honeymoon! I can’t wait to see the final product of their wedding photographs – The photographer was Oliver Lee and he currently has a sneak peek of their session up!
Before I end this large and wonderful post – the project that I have been working on and that has been in my 365 was finished in time and went over extremely well! I can’t wait for years down the road when we are hanging out at their house to see it still holding on strong.
